Job Summary

Conduct evaluations of new patients to establish goals and treatment plans, progressing clients through rehabilitation within their maximum capabilities. Document all interactions, provide relevant education to patients and families, and maintain effective communication with physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists. Supervise and instruct physical therapy students, orient support personnel, and participate in quality, safety, and program development initiatives. Utilize treatment tools and equipment safely while representing the department at conferences and seminars. Maintain adherence to university policies and safeguard assets.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in relevant field
  • Valid State of Florida Physical Therapist license
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years with board certification
  • 4 years without board certification
  • Board Certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) or specialty certification through an approved program
  • Certification as a Clinical Instructor (CI)
  • 320 hours of Physical Therapy student instruction as a CI
  • Approved minimum 50 hour - curriculum of courses to advance specified clinical expertise
  • Fulfillment of 3 professional development / engagement activities from the Clinical ladder Checklist
  • For Acute care Specialist criteria: must also include 4 of the 6 acute care rotations with one of them being critical care (CVICU, SICU, or MICU)
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
  • Strong attention to detail
