Job Summary
Organize and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy programs in the hospital and outreach services to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part. Work involves almost constant one-to-one contact with patients, assisting them to reach maximum performance while learning to live within their capabilities. Transport and transfer patients, performing treatments that require physical stamina for lifting and moving equipment. Full-time position with 40 weekly hours and rotating weekend call coverage. Spanish and Karen bilingual applicants encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- Baccalaureate, Master's or Doctorate Degree with satisfactory completion of the physical therapist training program in an accredited school of physical therapy
- Current South Dakota licensure as a physical therapist
- Physical stamina requisite to lift, carry and/or otherwise move and manipulate the equipment used in evaluation and treatment
- Physical stamina requisite to standing, walking, stooping, pulling, pushing and lifting while transporting or transferring patients and performing treatments
- Visual, auditory and speech acuity requisite to verbal and written communication with patients, families, physicians and other persons involved with the patient's care
- Ability to work almost constant one to one contact with patients
- Ability to work intermittently light (exerting/lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly) to moderately heavy (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly) or heavy (exerting/lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently and 20 pounds constantly)
