Job Summary
Administer physical therapy treatments for disabilities, injuries, and diseases to relieve pain and restore motor function while supervising Registered Physical Therapist Assistants. Complete patient evaluations within 24 hours of physician orders and discharge forms upon discharge, documenting assessments and treatment plans according to agency policy and state regulations. Coordinate referrals, encourage patient independence, and attend monthly case conferences and staff meetings to maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree from four-year accredited college or university in physical therapy, or degree in a related field
- One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A valid California drivers license when travel is required
- Current BLS course completion
- Current California Physical Therapy license, or eligible for registration
- Member of APTA preferred
- Evidence of automobile insurance when travel is required
- Able to organize and monitor the work of others
- Able to relate effectively with patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital/home health staff in a courteous, professional manner
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Analytical and diagnostic ability capable to interpreting patient physicians orders for physical therapy patients and developing an effective treatment plan as needed
- Relates well with other staff members and various other hospital personnel in a courteous professional manner at all times
- Utilizes good oral and written communication skills sufficient to meet the demands of the job
- Must conform with all HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations as required by the job, department, or hospital
- This job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching above shoulders, sitting, walking inclines and declines, standing, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive hand motions
- Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- The employee will occasionally lift boxes and/or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds
- The employee must demonstrate lifting a 25-pound box from the floor
- Category 3 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids
- All associates receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable
