Job Summary
Administer physical therapy treatments for disabilities, injuries, and diseases to relieve pain, restore motor function, and maintain optimal performance. Observe work schedules, maintain compliance with hospital policies, and complete patient evaluations and discharge forms within 24 hours of orders or discharge. Plan health care services based on physician orders, document assessments and progress notes according to agency policy, and coordinate referrals to other health care team members. Supervise treatment administration by PT Assistants and instruct home care personnel on lifting techniques and body mechanics. Attend monthly case conferences and staff meetings, maintain physical therapy skills inventory lists annually, and participate in Performance Improvement Plan activities as requested.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree from four-year accredited college or university in physical therapy, or degree in a related field
- One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A valid California drivers license when travel is required
- Current BLS course completion
- Current California Physical Therapy license, or eligible for registration
- Evidence of automobile insurance when travel is required
- Demonstrate lifting a 25-pound box from the floor
- Conform with all HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations
- Able to organize and monitor the work of others
- Able to relate effectively with patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital/home health staff in a courteous, professional manner
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Analytical and diagnostic ability capable to interpreting patient physicians orders for physical therapy patients and developing an effective treatment plan as needed
- Utilizes good oral and written communication skills sufficient to meet the demands of the job
