Job Summary
Physical Therapists are responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating physical therapy services within educational settings for students with disabilities. The role includes assessing students' functional capabilities, designing therapeutic interventions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and adapting environments to facilitate student participation in educational programs. Knowledge of regulations governing school-based services and the ability to educate school personnel and families are essential. Candidates must hold a degree in Physical Therapy and have completed licensure requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university recognized by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
- Successful completion of the National Physical Therapist Examination (NPTE).
- Licensure through the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy or eligibility for licensure in Virginia.
- Ongoing professional development to meet continuing education (CEU) requirements for licensure.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Physical Therapist preferred, ideally in a school-based or pediatric setting.
