Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, develop treatment plans with physician approval, and supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and aides in direct patient care. Perform treatments including patient transfers, document services in medical records, and manage Medicare Medical Review and denials. Communicate with families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members regarding progress and treatment plans, while instructing families on follow-through programs. Prepare for and contribute to rehab team conferences, utilization reviews, and caregiver training sessions. Maintain accurate documentation for billing and regulatory compliance, acquire necessary consents, and demonstrate safe working practices including equipment calibration and universal precautions. Utilize continuing education to achieve quality improvements and maintain current clinical expertise through seminars and peer interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge in Physical Therapy evaluation and treatments
  • Ability to supervise and direct assistants and aides
  • Understanding of the principles of physical modalities employed in Physical Therapy
  • Knowledge of use of prosthetic and orthotic devices ambulatory aides, assistive and resistive devices, and training
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to work with all types and levels of patients
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited Physical Therapy program
  • Must be able to lift and transfer patients to and from all surfaces a minimum of 10 times per day
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50-70 pounds a minimum of 10 times per day
  • Must be able to perform CPR, if required
  • Must be proficient with use of hands for repetitive grasping, pushing-pulling, and fine motor manipulation
  • Physical Therapist will spend approximately 60-80% of time bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching while working with physical therapy patients
  • Physical Therapist will spend approximately 60-80% of time standing/walking
  • Physical Therapist will spend approximately 10-20% of time sitting at desk or terminal entering data
  • Current Physical Therapist Registration/State Licensure as required

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in geriatric rehabilitation preferred
  • Experience in adult neurological, cardiac, and/or general rehabilitation is preferred
