Job Summary

Evaluate patients and design comprehensive treatment plans for neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and pulmonary conditions. Implement specific therapeutic interventions while coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality care. Reassess patient status, modify goals, and manage discharge planning with proper documentation of all assessments, treatment, and education provided. Provide mentorship to Physical Therapist Assistants, students, and therapy aides. Maintain compliance with Joint Commission guidelines, department policies, and Prisma Health standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy
  • PT Licensure from the Board of PT Examiners or PT Compact Commission
  • Advanced level of clinical and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced knowledge of diagnoses/conditions seen in physical therapy
  • Advanced working knowledge of various Physical Therapy techniques
  • Sound judgment in delegating task to Physical Therapy Assistants and Rehab Techs
  • Sound judgment in selecting the proper mode of communication which conveys a favorable image of the therapy department and Prisma Health
  • Good judgement in selecting the proper mode of communication
  • Day shift availability
  • Location in Blount Memorial Hospital

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and pulmonary systems
  • Experience with standardized evaluations appropriate for the patient
  • Experience identifying actual or potential problems that would impact the PT treatment plan
  • Experience establishing specific treatment goals based on the results of the initial assessment
  • Experience designing a plan of intervention that is coordinated and integrated with other services
  • Experience revising the treatment plan as indicated
  • Experience implementing and managing a specific and comprehensive treatment plan
  • Experience participating in patient discharge planning
  • Experience demonstrating awareness and use of proper safety measures regarding the patients, others in the treatment area and self
  • Experience reassessing patient status in response to treatment and goal achievement
  • Experience providing information regarding discharge and follow-up services
  • Experience providing education and training to patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, progress, and long-term functional outcomes
  • Experience completing the Plan of Care and Patient/Family Education Documentation
  • Experience teaching, counseling, and communicating with the patient/family/caregiver educational information related to the patient's diagnosis/condition
  • Experience providing educational material to patients/families
  • Experience documenting all aspects of assessment, planning, treatment, and discharge in the medical record in a legible and timely manner
  • Experience ensuring goals are appropriate and measurable within a specified time frame
  • Experience ensuring treatment notes are clear, succinct, and contain information regarding treatment progression
  • Experience utilizing appropriate abbreviations and medical terminology
  • Experience attending staff meetings, team meetings, and mandatory in-services as scheduled
  • Experience initiating and managing assignments in a timely and thorough manner
  • Experience assisting with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies
  • Experience completing charge/productivity documentation and entering charges in an accurate and timely manner
  • Experience demonstrating willingness to assist and being respectful of the rights of other team members
  • Experience complying with department policies and procedure
  • Experience demonstrating behaviors that support the purpose statement of Prisma Health
  • Experience providing supervision/mentorship to Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants and Rehab Aides
  • Experience providing supervision to Physical Therapy students as assigned
  • Experience participating in student orientation and providing effective learning experiences, feedback and timely evaluation
  • Experience meeting the team/department productivity standards
  • Experience complying with the established standards of efficient scheduling to maintain appropriate levels of productivity
  • Experience establishing annual goals related to stated corporate and department initiatives
  • Experience providing supporting information related to the progress made toward achieving established annual goals
  • Experience supporting corporate leadership initiatives
  • Experience conscientiously seeking consultation or supervision
