Job Summary

Plan and implement specific treatment programs for individual patients based on principles and practices of physical therapy. Conduct initial and re-evaluations, design comprehensive plans of care, and select examinations for neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and pulmonary systems. Establish specific treatment goals and coordinate interventions with other services while revising plans as indicated. Implement and manage treatment plans, participate in discharge planning, and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses and functional outcomes. Document all aspects of assessment, planning, treatment, and discharge in compliance with chart review audit components and Joint Commission guidelines. Reassess patient status, redefine problems, and modify goals based on treatment response. Provide supervision and mentorship to Physical Therapist Assistants, Therapy Aides, and students, delegating tasks with sound judgment. Maintain departmental equipment, complete charge documentation, and meet productivity standards. Comply with state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations while supporting corporate and department initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy
  • PT Licensure from the Board of PT Examiners or PT Compact Commission
  • Advanced level of clinical and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced knowledge of diagnoses/conditions seen in physical therapy
  • Advanced working knowledge of various Physical Therapy techniques
  • Sound judgment in delegating task to Physical Therapy Assistants and Rehab Techs
  • Sound judgment in selecting the proper mode of communication which conveys a favorable image of the therapy department and Prisma Health
  • Good judgement in selecting the proper mode of communication

  • Establishes annual goals related to stated corporate and department initiatives
  • Conscientiously seeks consultation or supervision
  • Provides supervision/mentorship to Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants and Rehab Aides
  • Provides supervision to Physical Therapy students as assigned
  • Provides feedback on performance in a professional, tactful and beneficial manner
  • Provides direction and assistance to Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapy Students, and Therapy Aides in the area of patient care
  • Complies with laws and regulations of appropriate state and federal agencies and Joint Commission guidelines
