Job Summary

Conduct thorough assessments of player injuries and develop individualized treatment plans for Dallas Mavericks athletes. Provide immediate care during practices, games, and travel while utilizing advanced therapeutic techniques to treat injuries. Design rehabilitation programs, monitor progress, and adjust protocols to ensure optimal recovery and return to play. Collaborate with strength and conditioning coaches to integrate rehab with fitness programs and develop injury prevention strategies including pre-season screenings. Educate players on proper warm-up and stretching techniques. Maintain accurate records of all treatments and ensure compliance with NBA regulations and Texas licensure requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, or a related field
  • Certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) by the Board of Certification (BOC)
  • Current licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist and/or Athletic Trainer in the state of Texas
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in athletic training or physical therapy, with a focus on working with elite athletes or in a professional sports setting
  • Experience in injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation specific to high-performance athletes
  • Strong knowledge of sports medicine, orthopedic physical therapy, and athletic training principles
  • Proficiency in injury assessment, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and the use of rehabilitation equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey medical information to players, coaches, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with players, medical staff, and coaching staff
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt treatment and rehabilitation plans based on player progress and changing needs
  • Ability to assess injury risks and implement preventative measures
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including treatment, rehabilitation, and injury prevention, while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for extended periods, providing hands-on care, and traveling with the team
  • Strong background in sports medicine
  • Expertise in managing the health and performance of elite athletes
  • Ensure compliance with NBA regulations, team protocols, and state licensure requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT)
  • Familiarity with NBA or other professional sports league protocols and standards
