Job Summary
Provide physical therapy services under physician direction to residents with impairments, functional limitations, or changes in physical status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. Develop rapport with residents, families, and inter-departmental personnel to ensure services meet resident needs. Evaluate and treat residents for mobility restrictions, create home therapy programs, and provide adaptive equipment recommendations. Schedule and manage resident appointments while recording medical information for evaluation, treatment, and billing support. Collaborate with health care professionals in clinical case conferences and participate in injury illness prevention programs, ergonomics training, and quality assurance meetings. Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and scheduled service of the physical therapy department and equipment. Perform proper CPT and ICD coding for Medicare and private pay processing. Integrate campus wellness philosophy into therapy programming and participate in the Restorative Nursing Assistant program.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist
- Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, home health setting, outpatient or inpatient setting, or another related medical facility
- Master of Science/Arts degree or higher
- Valid and current California Physical Therapy license
- Valid and current Healthcare Provider CPR Certificate
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Ability to deal tactfully and work harmoniously with personnel, residents, family members, and visitors
- Knowledge of Physical Therapy procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to hospitals, outpatient Physical Therapy clinics and nursing home operations
- Leadership ability
- Willingness to work harmoniously with professionally licensed and layman personnel
- Ability to maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment and maintain the appearance of the physical therapy areas, regular inspections and sanitation of physical therapy equipment, safety and proper performance of assigned duties
- Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing physical therapy practices
- Ability to perform proper CPT and ICD-coding for accounting office to process billing Medicare and Private Pay residents
- Familiarization with diagnosis codes
- Ability to differentiate between Medicare qualifying services and non-Medicare qualifying services
