Job Summary
A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide care and treatment for patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions. The PTA assists in executing treatment plans designed to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance the overall quality of life for patients. Responsibilities include carrying out treatment plans, guiding patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches and mobility techniques, using specialized equipment to aid recovery, monitoring and documenting patient progress, communicating with patients about goals, educating patients and families on at-home exercises, preparing therapy rooms and equipment, maintaining a clean and safe environment, reporting changes to the supervising PT, recording notes, and adhering to HIPAA and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant Program (accredited).
- Licensure or certification as required by the state of employment.
- Familiarity with therapy equipment and techniques.
