Job Summary
Physical Therapist Assistant provides therapy services under a licensed physical therapist’s direction, assisting in evaluating patients’ muscle strength, range of motion, coordination, gait, and daily living activities; implements therapy programs per the plan of care; educates patients and families on goals, adaptive equipment, and home exercise programs; maintains clinical records and submits documentation within 48 hours of visits; administers non-complex modalities and therapeutic exercises; ensures HIPAA and infection control compliance; participates in professional development at least twice annually; collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and coordinates treatment plans with supervising therapists and other staff; re-evaluates and adjusts treatment plans as progress occurs; explains treatment goals to families and assists with carry-over at home; adheres to state practice acts and agency policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from an APTA-accredited PTA program
- Licensed PTA in New Mexico per state board requirements
- Minimum 1 year of clinical physical therapy experience (home health preferred)
- CPR certification (current) required
