Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care, teaching, and clinical supervision for interns under licensed PT supervision. Manage treatment plans, adjust modalities, and collaborate with physicians and case managers to track functional progress from initial contact to discharge. Maintain accurate daily documentation in the electronic medical record to support reimbursement and treatment continuity. Provide patient education, participate in department committees, and mentor students in clinical programs. Serves as a role model for professional and clinical standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant Program
- BLS from American Heart Association upon hire
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Illinois
- Must comply with the Code of Ethics/Standards of Practice as outlined by their professional organization and by the State of Illinois
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs

- Experience with treatment modalities, equipment and protocols
- Experience in selecting the appropriate treatment modalities, equipment and protocols
- Experience adjusting the treatment plan accordingly
- Experience collaborating with PT to manage the course of PT from the time of initial contact to discharge
- Experience in documentation
- Experience in completing daily notes that reflect patient's response to treatment, actual performance, and an assessment as to status
- Experience in providing educational materials and methods appropriate to the patient's level of understanding and motivation
- Experience in participating in committees, department processes and special projects
- Experience in developing and maintaining professional relationships with members of healthcare teams
- Experience in creating a culture of respectful communication
- Experience in accepting constructive feedback
- Experience in proactively completing non-patient care responsibilities
- Experience in contributing to educational efforts of department/clinic
- Experience in actively participating in student clinical or observation programs
- Experience in maintaining productivity standards
- Willingness to flex schedule or assignment to meet patient care needs, staff meetings and department specific meetings outside of normal work hours
