Job Summary
Conduct direct physical therapy treatment including exercise, gait training, A.D.L., muscle re-education, and modalities in accordance with physician's orders. Evaluate patients from a physical therapy standpoint, record treatment responses, and constantly re-evaluate physical status. Supervise physical therapy treatments provided by Physical Therapy Workers and direct the department in the absence of a Director. Train patient families in rehabilitation techniques for home administration and assist with setting goals and home environment adaptations. Maintain communications with physicians, nursing, and other departments regarding treatments. Provide in-service education and consultation services to the health care team and assist in clinical education of students or faculty.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy approved by either the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or the American Physical Therapy Association
- Foreign-trained therapists must have their credentials reviewed and approved by an independent agency appointed by the State Board of Physical Therapy
- Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as physical therapist by state where employed
