Job Summary
Assess, plan, and carry out treatment interventions, patient education, and discharge plans for general and surgical patients in outpatient settings. Perform and interpret results of tests and measurements to modify treatment and evaluate outcomes, while developing treatment plans and adapting equipment as necessary. Provide direct patient care, consultation, and staff education, instructing patients on physical limitations and exercises to prevent or lessen injury impact. Record progress in electronic health records complying with AAAHC and CMS standards, and provide supervision to support staff, volunteers, and students. Rotate between WIHCC and Dilkon Medical Center for coverage, adhering to attendance and reliability requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree
- Current, valid, and unrestricted professional license as a Physical Therapist in Arizona
- Valid, current, unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist in any state within the United States, District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (for USPHS Commissioned Officers)
- BLS CPR certification
- Valid unrestricted and insurable driver's license
- Satisfactory background check investigation
- Knowledge of physical therapy principles, practices, theories and procedures
- Knowledge of physical agents such as air, water, electricity, sound, and radiant energy
- Knowledge of strong work ethics and confidentiality in the workplace
- Knowledge of basic computer skills, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence in judgment, planning and carrying out complex treatment objectives
- Ability to apply the National APTA standards of care
- Ability to develop guidelines for physical therapy
- Ability to address complex range of problems typically found in a busy physical therapy service
- Ability to be dependable in attendance and job performance
- Ability to meet attendance, overtime (if necessary), and other reliability requirements of the job
- Ability to accept and learn from feedback
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Desired Qualifications
- 3 years' experience (if holding a DPT degree)
- Over 6 years of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist (MPT or equivalent) (if not holding a DPT degree)
- Degree from a current accredited Doctor or Master of Physical Therapy program (if not holding a DPT)
- Bilingual skills in English and Navajo language
- APTA board certification
- Preference for qualified Navajo applicants
- Preference for qualified American Indian applicants (if no qualified Navajo applicant)
