Physical Security Hardware Specialist

Job Summary

Install security technology solutions including access control, CCTV, and other platforms. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and instrumentation as needed while ensuring maintenance on installed systems is tracked. Fabricate, repair, and assemble hardware for security operations, monitor inventory of replacement parts and tools, and process work orders. Assist in job walks to determine needs for new installations, collaborate on developing procedures, and work with system administrators to manage regional security infrastructure. Perform related duties in support of physical security, including vendor scheduling and documentation of project records.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • Experience working with security systems, such as CCTV, access control, intrusion detection systems, or other comparable systems, such as fire and alarm systems
  • Valid driver's license
  • Physical dexterity necessary to perform job functions
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to pass background screening for access to facilities housed on the Department of Defense (DOD) installations
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights (up to 300 feet) with appropriate safety gear
  • Comfortable working in extreme outdoor environments heat, cold, rain, etc.
  • Comfortable working in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours and weekends, as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
  • Willing to travel as needed (up to 35%)

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience using power tools, hand tools, and calibrated tooling
  • Existing knowledge of Lenel Access Control software, Avigilon Digital Camera software, and Microsoft VISIO
  • Lenel certification
  • Avigilon certification
  • Experience in the space exploration industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
  • Basic computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and photo generation/compilation
  • Ability to read and understand operating system schematics and drawings
  • Use of precision measuring instruments/equipment
  • Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees and customers
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, management, vendors, outside agencies, community groups and the general public
