Job Summary
Review medical health records through a secure Web Portal and perform comprehensive assessments on United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process. Complete condition-specific Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQ's) by documenting exam findings needed by the VA. Analyze data from electronic medical records to form medical opinions, noting that the VA makes all disability determinations and this is not a treating role. Review and assess four veterans per day on average, with completed DBQ's submitted within 24 hours after an exam. This role focuses on independent medical fact-finding and investigative assessment rather than traditional patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold a current license as a Physiatrist
- Must be Board Certified in either Neurological Surgery, PM&R or Psychiatry and Neurology
- Typing skills are essential
- Skilled at time management, able to stay on task and meet requirements
- Willing to spend at least 50% of their day reviewing medical records and electronic documenting of exam findings
- Proficient at finding key data points within large electronic medical records
- Able to analyze data from the medical records and exam findings to complete the DBQ's and form medical opinions
- Completed DBQ's must be submitted within 24 hours after an exam
