Job Summary
Organize and lead daily physical activity for Pre-K-8 students, planning lessons that promote familiarity with various sports and basic skills. Facilitate cooperative play to build teamwork while documenting student participation and services. Provide consistent motivation and role modeling for healthy lifestyle choices, including wellness initiatives for physical activity and nutrition. Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch, and recess, and lead advisory groups to promote social development and goal setting. Collaborate with content teachers to support academic instruction and assist with special projects and events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- at least 2 years experience implementing physical activities and coaching in school-based, after-school, and/or community-based settings
- Comfortable working in various urban settings and with diverse populations
- Team-oriented with strong organizational and collaborative skills
- Adapts well to changes in assignment and priorities with the ability to respond effectively to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles
- Available for after-school activities
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Willingness to model standards of nutrition and activity and personally demonstrating the caliber of performance and behavior that is expected of the staff and students
