Job Summary
Physical Education Teacher for an 11-month, 216-day assignment at Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center. Responsible for implementing district-approved PE/health curriculum, documenting student progress, adapting instruction to individualized learning plans, communicating with parents/administration, supervising and guiding staff and volunteers, and maintaining a safe learning environment across multiple instructional settings. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and Virginia Teaching Licensure with an endorsement in Health & Physical Education; Master’s degree preferred. Compensation determined by ACPS salary scale; includes background clearance and health screenings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field
- Virginia Department of Education Teaching Provisional/Collegiate/PostGraduate License with endorsement in Health & Physical Education - PreK-12 or ability to obtain upon hiring
- Elementary/Secondary Education licensure
- Experience with adapted instruction and individualized learning plans
- Ability to perform assessments and monitor student progress
- Criminal background clearance and TB test
- Compliance with health and safety protocols
