Job Summary
Teach physical fitness, health education, rhythms, dance, and sports while instructing pupils in citizenship and communications skills. Plan balanced programs, adapt schedules for weather and activity needs, and provide individualized instruction for diverse student needs, including adapted physical education for students with orthopedic or medical problems. Analyze and demonstrate sports strategies, ensure equipment and field safety, and maintain orderly behavior standards. Work cooperatively with other teachers and participate in in-service workshops to maintain professional competence. Report to the Principal and adhere to district confidentiality policies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid South Carolina teaching license or ability to obtain one within 60 days from being hired
- Completed a program of study in education from an accredited college or university
- Ability to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for required periods of time
- Ability to speak and hear
- Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision
- Effective communication in English using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Ability to reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects, operate tools, technology equipment, computers, and/or controls
- Ability to work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds
- Demonstration of professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean, and professional manner
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Adherence to confidentiality as directed by Federal, State, and Local Laws/Regulations and district administrative rules
