Job Summary
Elementary Physical Education Teacher responsible for creating fitness awareness and teaching the physical education curriculum in alignment with Ohio Learning Standards. The role involves designing engaging and safe lessons, developing clear lesson plans, assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, collaborating with colleagues and communicating with parents and community members, and providing leadership to support school improvement. Responsibilities include classroom management, following district curriculum, ensuring student safety, and promoting healthy, active lifestyles through differentiated instruction and ongoing professional development. The incumbent will also supervise student teachers and participate in committee and staff activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ohio teaching certificate or license
- Appropriate Physical Education licensure required
- Health is preferred
- Strong instructional skills and knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards
- Ability to create engaging, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Ability to provide leadership and direction and to work cooperatively with other professional staff
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form to staff, students, parents, and community members
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate physical education practices
- Ability to apply differentiated instruction strategies to meet diverse student needs
