Job Summary
Physical Education Assistant at East Central ISD provides instructional assistance to students under direct supervision of certified teachers and campus administration. Responsibilities include conducting instructional exercises, assisting in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays, assisting with administration and scoring of tests, supervising students throughout the day (lunchroom, bus, playground), orienting substitutes, maintaining records and reports, and supporting a Title 1 school-wide program. Requires a high school diploma or GED plus options such as 48 college hours with child growth/development emphasis or certificates (Educational Aide/Paraprofessional). Bilingual preferred and prior experience with children is desirable. 187 school days; paraprofessional pay grade 201.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 48 semester college hours with some emphasis on child growth or development or related area
- Treasuring our Paraprofessionals certificate (must be obtained prior to employment; applicant is responsible for all associated costs)
- Educational Aide Certificate
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Bilingual preferred
- Some experience working with children
- Perform duties with minimum supervision
