Job Summary
Develop the assigned sport's activities, including practice and competition schedules, season records, and equipment inventory. Supervise student athletics during practices and competitions while correcting conduct, monitoring academic progress for eligibility, and ensuring physical examinations are completed. Coordinate facilities and uniforms, maintain team rosters, and hold preseason or postseason parent meetings. Promote school and community interest in the sport, emphasize skill development and sportsmanship, and report all injuries or concerns. Maintain IHSAA certification and CPR skills, and work with parents and staff in a fair, understanding manner.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of the sport assigned
- Prior successful coaching experience
- Familiar with Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) rules concerning the sport assigned
- Familiar with National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules concerning the sport assigned
- First Aid and CPR certified
- Knowledge and understanding of the concussion protocol
- Ability to communicate with parents and students
- Ability to address situations dealing with blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
- Ability to foster positive student-athlete relationships
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
- Exhibits high standards of professional ethics and conduct
- Successfully complete criminal history and DCS clearances
