Job Summary
The PHP/WordPress Developer role focuses on architecture, development, and stability of the WPVIP ecosystem, employing BDD, ATDD, and TDD to ensure quality. Responsibilities include architecting high-performance WordPress themes/plugins, writing clean PHP (8.x) using OOP and SOLID, driving CI/CD pipelines with VIP-CLI and GitHub Actions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring deploy-ready code through automated linting, unit testing, and integration tests. The role requires 7+ years of PHP experience with WordPress VIP, strong testing framework experience (PHPUnit, Playwright, Behat, Cypress), CI/CD proficiency, full-stack skills with React/Gutenberg, ES6+, REST/GraphQL API integration, and tooling for performance and security (PHPCS, New Relic, Query Monitor, WPScan, K6/WebPageTest). Strong emphasis on engineering excellence, technical stewardship of WPVIP architecture, and servant leadership with proactive initiative are highlighted. Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $95,000 with remote work options in Canada, and applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional PHP experience
- deep expertise in the WordPress VIP ecosystem
- experience with testing frameworks (PHPUnit, Playwright, Behat, Cypress) and commitment to TDD/BDD workflows
- CI/CD proficiency and WPVIP deployment constraints
- Full-Stack skills including React (Gutenberg), ES6+, REST/GraphQL API integration
- experience with tooling such as PHPCS, New Relic, Query Monitor, WPScan and K6/WebPageTest
- experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), ATDD and TDD
