Job Summary
Technical Manager leading the RLS LCM team in Ottawa to develop and optimize test systems for next-generation optical and modem products. Responsible for test automation software, test sequences, and instructions; drive design-for-testability reviews; support prototype validation with NPI/LCM/Repair teams; collaborate with contract manufacturers; integrate test stations into Ciena’s manufacturing ecosystem; scale capabilities for high-volume production. Requires 10+ years in systems/LCM or test engineering in electronics/contract manufacturing, strong telecom product testing and debugging skills, and hands-on software development in C#, Python, TestStand, and Lua. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering. Proficiency in English; ability to work across global sites and with external manufacturers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Security, Computer, or Electronics)
- 10+ years of experience in SYS, RLS LCM, Failure Analysis, or Test Engineering within electronics or contract manufacturing environments
- Strong technical expertise in telecom product testing and debugging
- Hands-on software development experience in C#, Python, TestStand, and Lua
- Proven experience working with Contract Manufacturers (e.g., Sanmina, Celestica, Flex, USI, Jabil)
- Proficiency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to navigate PCB schematics and laboratory test equipment
