Job Summary
A visually driven journalist will produce, shoot and edit high-quality video and still images to inform and engage audiences across platforms. The role focuses on fast, high-quality video production and photo galleries for breaking news, enterprise coverage and sports, with a heavy emphasis on digital storytelling and multimedia. Responsibilities include developing and pitching timely visual story ideas, quickly turning around footage from the field, collaborating with editors and reporters, maintaining visuals on digital platforms, and contributing to newsroom training. The position requires strong collaboration, adaptability to changing assignments, proficiency in SEO for visuals, and a willingness to travel as needed. The shift is Tuesday–Saturday, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the role involves building relationships with the newsroom and the community while delivering engaging visual journalism.”,
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3 years of professional experience in visual journalism and video creation
- Strong news judgment, planning skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in SEO and optimization for visuals
- High level communication, time management and planning skills
- Openness to feedback and commitment to continual improvement
- Willingness to work nights, weekends and travel as news requires
