Job Summary
Photographer I, News will gather and edit content for breaking news, severe weather, daily coverage, features, sports, and live events across television, online, and social platforms. Produce NPPA-style video stories with powerful visuals, lighting, natural sound, and compelling interviews; verify information through interviews, observation, and research; respond quickly to breaking news while prioritizing safety. Collaborate with reporters, anchors, and editors to deliver high-quality stories under tight deadlines; ensure content meets journalistic integrity and production standards; contribute original enterprise ideas and support special projects. Requires strong camera operation, editing (Adobe Premiere preferred), knowledge of media laws and ethics, ability to work under pressure, and a valid driver’s license. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; willingness to travel and work varied shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, photography, film, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong photojournalism experience preferred
- Mastery of broadcast-quality camera gear and other newsgathering equipment
- Strong non-linear video editing skills, proficiency with Adobe Premiere (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Willingness to travel and work varied shifts including overnights, weekends, and holidays
