Job Summary
Senior Environmental Engineer at Nevada Gold Mines leading environmental programs for the Phoenix operation. Responsible for managing reclamation permits and regulatory reporting, overseeing permitting and NEPA activities, managing environmental risks, and coordinating with operations, engineering, and regulatory agencies. Mentors junior team members, develops and maintains environmental management plans, ensures compliance with Plan of Operations and BLM decisions, leads cultural resource programs, participates in regulatory inspections, and aligns practices with ISO 14001 and OHS 45001 standards. Additional duties include on-call after-hours incident response, contractor management, and budget forecasting/tracking for reclamation/closure activities. Must be capable of outdoor work year-round and coordinating with supply chain for services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental science, environmental studies, hydrology, hydrogeology, mine engineering, ecology or related field - required
- Five (5) years direct experience managing environmental compliance programs and projects, with a minimum of three (3) years in an industrial setting - required
- Strong computer skills including PowerPoint, Word and Excel - required
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills - required
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously - required
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships - required
- Ability to identify and implement opportunities for improvement - required
- General understanding of mining operations - preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 - preferred
- Ability to drive results and meet deadlines - required
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions - required
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. - required
