Job Summary
Coordinate the daily workflow of MVH Specimen Control Department and perform phlebotomy/processing duties as needed. Responsibilities include assigning workload to phlebotomists, tracking staff, escalating issues, ensuring proper patient identification and specimen labeling, operating departmental equipment, communicating with internal/external customers, troubleshooting pre-analytical issues, promoting shift-to-shift cooperation, participating in safety/AIDET audits, mentoring staff, stocking collection rooms, loading specimens onto instruments, and float support across sites as needed. Requires a high school diploma, at least 1 year phlebotomy/processing experience, strong customer service skills, dependability, and the ability to meet safety and competency requirements; night shift with 15% differential.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- minimum 1 year phlebotomy/processing experience
- phlebotomy experience preferred
- detail oriented with excellent customer service
- ability to pass PAPR hood physical
- ability to walk 5–7 miles per day
- lift up to 50 lbs
- exposure to biohazardous substances and chemicals
- ability to work night shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
