Phlebotomy Technician - Lab Support Services - Days

Job Summary

Collect blood specimens from patients while ensuring proper identification and labeling, then process, distribute, and accession all incoming laboratory samples. Act as the primary liaison between physicians, nursing units, and patients to clarify test reports and order statuses, while generating and charting reports for patient care units. Manage incoming customer inquiries and perform required reporting functions via mail and fax. Requires six months of hospital phlebotomy experience, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and proficiency in specimen transport without compromising integrity. Day shift with every other weekend and rotating major holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate, GED or higher
  • Six (6) months previous professional experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital setting
  • demonstrated competency in performing the full range of specimen collections

  • One-year recent experience performing phlebotomy procedures
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to perform successful venipuncture procedures without assistance
  • ability to work independently with minimal reliance on supervisory support
  • ability to effectively manage time and scheduling without direct supervision
  • flexibility and adaptability
  • ability to communicate with patients, physicians, and hospital staff in an effective, courteous and professional manner
  • ability to read, write and demonstrate an understanding of the procedures involved in specimen collection and routine testing
  • Demonstrates basic computer literacy
  • Demonstrate comprehension, skill and command of the oral and written English language
  • Ability to transport specimens to the laboratory quickly without interfering with the specimen integrity
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
