Job Summary
Perform routine blood collection on all age groups, including neonates and infants, under the supervision of the Manager, Preanalytical Laboratory Services and Phlebotomy Supervisors. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to function in the Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Laboratory while providing care appropriate to the age of patients in the assigned area. Maintain a valid driver's license and complete mandatory background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse as required for providing care to vulnerable populations within the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System.
Required Qualifications
- graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy
- three (3) months experience
- High School Diploma
- GED
- Certificate
- Valid Driver's License
Desired Qualifications
- demonstrated knowledge of all relevant computer skills as needed for patient ID system and specimen processing functions
- demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff and other healthcare providers
- excellent communication skills
- ability to work with minimal supervision
