Phlebotomy Manager

Job Summary

Provide daily leadership to Collections and Processing departments at Miami Valley Hospital, developing staffing plans and monitoring timekeeping to manage overtime and payroll. Oversee training programs, interview new employees, and manage performance appraisals while writing procedures for current and new processes. Prepare for accreditation visits, oversee supply ordering, and promote continuous improvement philosophies like Six Sigma and Lean. Perform phlebotomy collections as required and collaborate with other managers to ensure consistent patient care. Work night shifts from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, adhering to safety policies and PPE requirements in a biohazard environment. Participate in the CompuNet Management Team and serve on committees.

Required Qualifications

  • Full-Time Night Shift (11:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • 3-5 years in phlebotomy with increasing responsibilities in a medical lab
  • Strong interpersonal skills for fostering a positive environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Ability to multitask and maintain focus amid interruptions
  • Sound reasoning and independent judgment
  • Deadline-oriented with excellent communication and people skills
  • Capable of establishing work priorities and handling multiple procedures simultaneously
  • Will have exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals
  • Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company
  • Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas
  • Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner
  • Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations and promote safety awareness
  • Work at a computer for extended periods with good visual acuity and hand-finger dexterity
  • Perform accurate data entry and analysis in a noisy environment
  • Read small print on labels
  • Lift weights up to 20 pounds for up to 50 yards with both hands
  • Lift weights up to 50 pounds to a height of approximately five feet
  • Manipulate various collection devices with manual dexterity
  • Stand for extended periods and walk short distances repeatedly
  • Work effectively under pressure or in stressful situations

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred: Associates or Bachelor's degree
