Job Summary
Prepare equipment for blood product collection and perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and urine specimen allocation. Conduct designated laboratory testing, enter accurate data into computer systems, and monitor biohazard waste. Clean and sterilize instruments, inventory supplies, and respond timely to abnormal values. Maintain knowledge of container volumes and ensure preventive maintenance on all equipment. Maintain patient confidentiality and complete assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- National certification Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist
- 1+ years of experience in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation
- 1+ years of experience in maintaining all materials for collection
- 1+ years of experience in preparing written reports concerning the results of laboratory tests and input data into computer system
- Intermediate computer literacy
- Intermediate knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine blood and urine tests
- Intermediate knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks
- Basic medical terminology
- Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment
