Job Summary
Phlebotomist role involving aseptic blood collection, processing and labeling of specimens, and performing tests and procedures (e.g., blood cultures, 24-hr urine collection, urine drug screens, H. pylori breath test). Requires competency in pediatric/infant/skin punctures, bleeding times, documentation, and leveraging LIS for lab duties. Duties include inventory monitoring, replenishing supplies, documenting actions, recalling patients for follow-up, training new staff, and coordinating with couriers for specimen transport. Travel to satellite locations as needed. Must adapt work schedule to meet emergency staffing needs. Education/certification requirements include HS diploma or GED; vocational/technical program preferred; BLS/HeartSaver required. Strong English communication, customer service, teamwork, and accuracy are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate/GED required
- Vocational/Technical School/Diploma Program preferred
- 0-1 years experience
- 2-4 years preferred
- HeartSaver or Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required
- Ability to communicate in English (oral and written) required
- Strong customer service and teamwork skills required
- Ability to work with high degree of accuracy
- Experience with scheduling and orders management preferred
- Experience with standard office software and LIS preferred
