Job Summary
Conduct phlebotomy procedures, process and receive specimens, access and distribute samples, and perform specific test procedures to support patient care. Access patient information via Windows-style applications and resolve operational problems while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Adapt communication styles to diverse patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and clear explanations of services. Work evening shifts from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. within Ochsner Health's Gulf South network, which includes 46 hospitals and over 370 health centers.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Knowledge of venipuncture procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of phlebotomy course
- Current license or trainee license in the state of practice
