Job Summary
Safely and accurately performs venipunctures, arterial and capillary specimen collections across adults, children and infants; interprets physician orders and ensures all requests are processed in the information system; greets patients using the AIDET model; evaluates specimen orders for type, time of draw, and handling; maintains laboratory areas and communicates with physician offices and pharmacy to ensure proper, timely collection and processing; demonstrates knowledge of collection and ordering requirements for reference labs and other specialty testing labs; participates in continuing education and applies ICARE principles to promote quality patient care and a productive work environment; adheres to Laboratory Compliance policies and mandatory training; may require coverage at other laboratory sites as needed; embraces career development and internal mobility within the organization.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED OR currently in the Phlebotomist Student role and meets criteria: 18 years of age or older; on track to obtain High School Diploma within 12 months of hire; meets competency requirements of phlebotomy student role as indicated by supervisor and system phlebotomy manager
