Job Summary
Collect specimens from patients, verify identification, and access samples into the computer system for accurate testing and billing. Process specimens for testing including identifying, sorting, aliquoting, centrifuging, and labeling them appropriately while maintaining proper storage and transport conditions. Perform Point of Care testing if assigned, instruct patients on preparation, and communicate pertinent information to team members and physician offices. Review outstanding workload reports, manage collection lists, and complete required training and competencies. Float to multiple client locations and patient service centers as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 Month training in phlebotomy
- Certification In Lieu Of In Lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, previous phlebotomy experience or training in formal programs which include phlebotomy are qualified as candidates
- Knowledge of general phlebotomy equipment
- Interpersonal and Communication skills
- Previous experience if no formal training
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
- Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database)
- Data entry telephone proof-read documents
