Job Summary
Collect blood donations safely from volunteer donors in a compassionate and professional manner while utilizing computer systems to process donors through screening and whole blood phlebotomy. Set up supplies and equipment, complete daily quality control, and ensure all resources are available before collection events. Take personal responsibility for donor safety by complying with Blood Center standard procedures and regulatory standards to provide exceptional donor experiences. This role reports directly to the Donor Collections Manager and supports the mission of saving lives by providing blood products to hospitals in PA and NJ.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Ability to effectively interact with diverse people and communicate (verbal, written, and listening) fluently in English
- Proficient with basic computer skills and office tools, such as Microsoft Office, and ability to use software relevant to the position
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions, seeking guidance as necessary
- Hours vary daily based on schedule can be either 7am - 3pm or 12pm - 8pm
- Staff work a variable schedule which may include early mornings, late nights, and on-call to cover weekends and holidays
- A schedule is provided two weeks in advance
- The first two weeks of training will take place onsite at our blood center at 1465 Valley Center Parkway Bethlehem, PA
Desired Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certification or Phlebotomy Certification is strongly preferred
- 6 months' experience in a Blood Center or other Healthcare environment is strongly preferred
- 1 years' experience in customer service is strongly preferred
