Job Summary
PRN phlebotomist for an Intermediate Care Facility in Owensboro, KY. Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws for residents with proper technique to minimize discomfort and reduce risk, ensuring accurate identification of residents and specimens. Collect specimens for tests as directed, label and document accurately, and hand off to WF transportation staff for lab processing. Maintain infection control and HIPAA/OSHA compliance, communicate with nursing staff and physicians, and assist with training temporary personnel and maintaining phlebotomy supplies. Stay current on phlebotomy practices and regulations, with emphasis on compassionate resident interaction and safe specimen handling.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Technician Program preferred
- National certification (e.g., PBT (ASCP), CPT, or equivalent) required
- Possess, or be able to possess, required first aid and CPR certifications (training provided)
- Possess valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, and ability to drive facility vehicles
- Experience working with elderly populations or in long-term care facilities is a plus
