Job Summary
Collect and process laboratory specimens in Sunquest 8.1, ensuring venipuncture and capillary punctures align with PSC policy. Gather specimens across all age groups, proficient in urine drug screen collection, PCR nasopharyngeal swabs, and POCT testing. Complete requisitions accurately, verify billing information, and label specimens for transport while maintaining appropriate storage temperatures. Retrieve, process, and store specimens as per protocol, manage order flow, and assist in troubleshooting patient draw issues. Operate departmental equipment, conduct inventory checks, and support new staff training. Float as a PRN phlebotomist at Patient Service Centers in Lebanon, Wilmington, and Blanchester, working day shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays with weekend availability.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Recent phlebotomy training or experience
- At least 100 venipunctures completed
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to stand the majority of the shift
- Exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals
- Adherence to safety, ergonomic, and health policies
- Compliance with PPE requirements in lab or biohazard areas
- Completion of required safety training and health evaluations
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety hazards
- Safety awareness
