Job Summary
Phlebotomist needed per diem in Los Angeles (Adventist Health White Memorial). Focuses on specimen collection via venipuncture and finger sticks, accessioning and distributing specimens for lab testing, and maintaining specimen quality and paperwork. Collaborates with departments and the Lead Phlebotomist to run quality controls, perform proficiency testing, and participate in QA activities. Requires CA high school education or GED (or equivalent); CA-specific licensure/certifications as listed (CPT I/II, CPT-NHA, CPT-NCCT, MLT), BLS certification, and adherence to hospital vaccination requirements. Per diem/variable shift role with duties spanning order fulfillment, inventory/stock management, and patient interaction to obtain necessary information for records.
Required Qualifications
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician CPT I or CPT II or National Healthcareer Association phlebotomy certification (CPT-NHA) or National Center for Competency phlebotomy certification (CPT-NCCT) or Medical Laboratory Technician license (MLT): Required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
- Phlebotomy Tech (CPT) or Certified Phlebotomy Technician II (CPTII) or NHA Certified Phlebotomy Tech (CPT-NHA) or Phlebotomy Tech-NCCT (NCCT-CPT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT): Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
- Facility Specific License/Certifications: Phlebotomy Tech (CPT) or Certified Phlebotomy Technician II (CPTII) or NHA CPT-NHA or NCCT-CPT or MLT: Required
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required
- Education and Work Experience: High School/GED required; Associate's preferred
