Job Summary
Collect blood, urine, and swab specimens using venipuncture, finger sticks, or heel sticks across outpatient, ER, and inpatient settings. Process specimens for lab technicians or reference labs, perform CLIA waived and non-CLIA waived testing, and collect drug screens for pre-employment and post-accident cases. Greet patients, instruct them on specimen collection methods, answer phones, and route calls as needed. Assist with laboratory supply inventory and stock work areas. Perform special projects and other duties assigned by the Department or Clinic Manager.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Current Washington State MA/Phlebotomist License obtained within 90-days of hire
- Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire
- Intermediate working knowledge and competence in laboratory processes, applications, and testing procedures
- Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products
- Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment
- Working knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, problem-solving, organization, prioritization, and interpersonal skills
- Shift at times will be variable, the ability to be flexible is required
