Phlebotomist - Per Diem

Job Summary
Perform venipunctures and skin punctures on neonates through adults to obtain blood specimens, ensuring highest analytical quality. Independently process specimens for analysis, register patients, and facilitate billing while navigating multiple computer applications. Perform Point-of-Care instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control as assigned, and handle or replenish reagents according to established protocols. Provide phlebotomy coverage for group offices, skilled nursing facilities, or homebound patients, and resolve specimen discrepancies or referral problems as appropriate. Work a rotation schedule at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, supporting our mission of exceptional patient care through innovative laboratory services.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year Related work experience
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Successful completion of initial and subsequent competency exams
- Phlebotomist I or II qualifications
- US Army 68W Combat Medic, 18D, US Navy Hospital Corpsman, and related medical specialties
- Phlebotomist I - less than 1 year of experience
- Phlebotomist II - 1-2 years of experience or if you graduated from Geisinger's School of Phlebotomy Program
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a nursing assistant (NA)
- Certified nursing assistant (CNA)
- Medical assistant (MA)
- Certified medical assistant (CMA)
- Military experience
