Phlebotomist - Per Diem

Job Summary
Conduct venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to Clinical laboratory Standards Institute guidelines in the Acute, Post-acute, Clinic, and Field Service areas. Perform patient identification, specimen collection, labeling, accessioning, and processing while collaborating with clinical counterparts to ensure safe environments. Troubleshoot physician orders, process specimens for testing, and manage inventory as required. Mentor students and new employees, and assist with continuous improvement objectives including root cause analyses. Work under the leadership of Phlebotomist III, Preanalytical Specialist, Team Lead, Supervisor, or other Laboratory Leader, escalating issues accordingly.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year Related work experience
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Experience as a nursing assistant (NA), certified nursing assistant (CNA), medical assistant (MA), certified medical assistant (CMA) or similar
- US Army 68W Combat Medic, 18D, US Navy Hospital Corpsman, and related medical specialties
- Phlebotomist I or II qualifications
- Phlebotomist I - less than 1 year of experience
- Phlebotomist II - 1-2 years of experience or if you graduated from Geisinger's School of Phlebotomy Program
- Initial and annual competency via Learning Management System which includes an exam and direct observation checklist
