Job Summary
Conduct phlebotomy procedures in multiple settings using aseptic techniques, obtaining throat and nasal collections while properly identifying patients with two means of identification. Perform assigned pre-analytical processes including processing orders from the EMR, determining specimen requirements, and labeling specimens at the patient's side. Execute daily, weekly, monthly, and as needed preventative maintenance, function checks, and post-analytical procedures while adhering to laboratory quality control policies. Dispose of contaminated sharps and body fluids in accordance with Infection Prevention policies. Answer the phone professionally, maintain accurate documentation, and order supplies as needed. Work varied per diem hours across the first, second, and third shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Requires the ability to work independently
- Requires the ability to react calmly and effectively
- Requires the ability to move at a fast pace
- Requires the ability to interact positively with physicians, nursing staff, and patients
- Obtains CPR certification within 90 days of hire
- Requires critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning
- Demonstrates the ability to navigate and perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software applicable to the department
