Job Summary
Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary methods from inpatients and outpatients. Review physician requisitions to ensure tests meet Medical Necessity guidelines and prepare Advance Beneficiary Notices for non-covered procedures. Perform EKG, pulse oximetry, and point-of-care testing while maintaining instrumentation quality control. Process specimens through centrifugation, pour-off, aliquoting, labeling, and packaging, then provide data for registration. Work evening shifts, 32 hours weekly, rotating every other holiday and weekend. This float role may require travel to other locations or campuses per department needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate
- Successful completion from a recognized program for training in phlebotomy
- Prior documented experience performing phlebotomy
- Basic life support certification
- Maintenance of annual competencies in BLS
- Flexibility to work and travel to other locations and campuses per the needs of the department
