Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •High School diploma or equivalent
• •Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution or one or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting or CMA certification
• •Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• •Must be available for weekend shifts
• •Must be available for Saturday and Sunday shifts
• •Must be able to work between 4am and 10:30am start times
• •Must be able to work between 8am and 7pm end times
• •Must be able to alternate between inpatient and outpatient
• •Must be able to function as part of a highly effective team
• •Must demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills
• •Must be able to perform venipuncture collection
• •Must be able to process specimens
• •Must be able to enter orders in multiple systems
• •Must be able to verify test result receipt
• •Must be able to retrieve patient information
• •Must be able to perform lab reception and clerical duties
• •Must be able to label specimens
• •Must be able to centrifuge specimens
• •Must be able to aliquot specimens
• •Must be able to freeze specimens
• •Must be able to package specimens
• •Must be able to monitor refrigerator temperatures
• •Must be able to maintain QC/QA records
• •Must be able to report findings to supervisor or manager
• •Must be able to understand and maintain equipment
• •Must be able to communicate with Laboratory and/or Physician
• •Must be able to maintain a safe work environment
• •Must be able to adhere to biohazard waste procedures
• •Must be able to utilize email, medical record systems, handheld and desktop devices
• •Must be able to order and maintain supply inventory
• •Must be able to file and sanitize equipment
• •Must be able to apply critical thinking, sound decision making and judgment
• •Must be able to comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
• •Must be able to complete and sign-off on competency assessments
• •Must be able to interact with and assist others in a professional manner

• •Must be able to communicate all timed, completed or uncompleted draws/charges/results
• •Must be able to ensure proper storage and timely pickup of biohazardous waste
• •Must be able to use department's resources efficiently
• •Must be able to participate in efforts to reduce costs and streamline work processes
• •Must be able to hold self-accountable for safe work practices

Desired Qualifications

• •Experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient's types
• •Experience with processing lab specimens, transferring specimens, and handling a centrifuge
• •Familiar with medical EMR systems
• •Knowledge of medical terminology
