Job Summary
Phlebotomist Outreach performs blood collection and specimen handling for routine and specialized tests in both pediatric and adult patients. Responsibilities include venipuncture and capillary puncture, ensuring proper labeling, transport, and documentation of specimens, and handling patient registration and medical records. The role involves clerical duties such as scheduling tests, entering diagnostic codes, and following ABN procedures, with emphasis on patient-centered care and adherence to universal precautions. Requires a high school diploma or GED and a phlebotomy certificate (or equivalent experience) and strong interpersonal and clerical skills to support outpatient and inpatient care within Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital system.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Phlebotomy certificate (through NACLS and/or certificate program with internship) or 6 months phlebotomy experience alternative
- Phlebotomy certificate required
- Ability to perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on adults, children, and infants
