Job Summary
Phlebotomist - Outpatient Lab in Westfield, NJ. Performs phlebotomy duties including blood culture collection, urine/stool specimen collection, a 24-hour collection, H. pylori breath test, and rapid/ancillary tests; processes specimens and paperwork, monitors inventory, and ensures proper labeling and documentation. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, minimum 2 years phlebotomy experience, and relevant certifications (NHA/CLA preferred); travel to satellite locations as needed; schedule is Monday–Friday with rotating weekend shifts, 8am–4:30pm (overtime/coverage as needed).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience required
- Phlebotomy Technician Certification through the National Health Career Association (NHA) preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and laboratory requirements
- Ability to perform phlebotomy on adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients
- Ability to travel to satellite locations as needed (travel not specified as mandatory)
Desired Qualifications
- Phlebotomy Technician Certification through the National Health Career Association (NHA) preferred
- CLA Certificate preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and laboratory requirements
- Experience with LIS and specimen processing
- Experience drawing blood cultures and performing urine/stool collection using proper aseptic technique
- Experience in pediatric/adult/geriatric phlebotomy (as described)
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
