Job Summary
Collect blood specimens and perform pre-analytical processing for all incoming samples across all age levels, including pediatrics to adult patients. Ensure timely and accurate labeling, filing, and charting of patient specimens and results while using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Laboratory Information System (LIS) for ordering and reporting. Process send-out tests, maintain inventory and supplies, and keep collection areas clean and compliant with safety standards. Respond efficiently to STAT and time-sensitive draws while adhering to regulatory requirements and proficiency testing protocols. Communicate effectively within the chain of authority and escalate concerns as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program
- BLS certification
- Proficiency in computer use, medical terminology, and electronic record systems
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Skilled in venipuncture, finger sticks, and general phlebotomy techniques
- Critical thinking and team collaboration skills
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed EMT
- Experience with hospital EMR and LIS systems
- Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience or certification
- Completion of accredited Phlebotomy program with 1+ year experience
